Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words and is the easiest way to share your question/problem. OS X makes it easy to take a picture or your entire screen or a portion of your screen. Here's how:

Take a picture of your entire screen

You can take a picture, or screenshot, of your entire screen using Grab.

1) Launch Grab (located in the /Applications/Utilities folder).

2) Choose Capture > Screen.

3) When the Screen Grab dialog opens, click outside that window. Grab captures the screen within a few seconds. A new window appears with an image of your entire screen.

4) Choose File > Save and save the screenshot to your Desktop.

5) Attach the screenshot file on your Desktop to your support ticket reply.

Take a picture of part of your screen

If you don’t need a picture of your entire screen, you can capture just part of the screen.

1) Launch Grab (located in the /Applications/Utilities folder).

2) Choose Capture > Selection.

3) Move the pointer to a corner of the area you want to capture.

4) Drag the pointer across the area and release the mouse button. Grab captures the part you selected within a few seconds. A new window appears with the image of the selected area.

5) Choose File > Save and save the screenshot to your Desktop.

6) Attach the screenshot file on your Desktop to your support ticket reply.

Shortcuts

OS X provides keyboard shortcuts for taking a picture of the screen or part of the screen.Pictures of the screen (screenshots) are saved as files on the desktop, but if you prefer to put a screenshot in the Clipboard, hold down the Control key while you press the other keys. You can then paste the picture into a document.

Continue to press the mouse button, release the keys, and then press Shift, Option, or the Space bar while you drag to resize the selection area.
