Follow the below steps to quit the helper applications that SOHO Notes and SOHO Organizer use to provide services for you when those applications aren't running. These helper applications run in the background so don't normally see them running.
The helper applications access your personal database so it's necessary to quit them before i) replacing your database file; ii) uninstalling SOHO Notes or SOHO Organizer; or iii) installing a new version of SOHO Notes or SOHO Organizer.
a) Launch Activity Monitor. This application is located at the following path on your computer: /Applications/Utilities
b) Select "My Processes" from the pop-up menu button on the toolbar at the top of the Activity Monitor window. A list of all the applications currently running on your computer will be listed including background applications.
c) Type "soho" into the Search field in the toolbar at the top of the Activity Monitor window. This will filter the list so only applications with "soho" in their name will be listed.
d) Quit the below helper applications that are used by SOHO Notes and SOHO Organizer version 8 and later. You quit an application by selecting it in the list and then clicking the Quit Process button in the toolbar. When you click Quit Process, you'll be asked if you want to Quit it or Force Quit it. It's best to try the Quit option first and if it doesn't work, then use the Force Quit option. You'll know the application has quit because it will disappear from the list.

ii) SOHONotesService
iii) SOHO Sync
iv) SOHOPreviewMaker

You quit an application by selecting it in the list and then clicking the Quit Process button in the toolbar. When you click Quit Process, you'll be asked if you want to Quit it or Force Quit it. It's best to try the Quit option first and if it doesn't work, then use the Force Quit option. You'll know the application has quit because it will disappear from the list.
