The occasion may arise when you need to send us a large file like your database or a movie that demonstrates your problem. Currently, you can attach a file up to 15 MB in size to your ticket. The best way to send us anything larger is via a file sharing service like Dropbox.com. Chronos is in no way affiliated with Dropbox.com — their service is simply very popular, widely used, and offers free accounts. If you prefer to use a different service that offers us the ability to download files you upload, then we're more than happy to accept files through that service as well.

If you don't already have a Dropbox.com account, then your first step is to visit their site and sign up for an account. Their free account provides you with a generous, but limited, amount of storage (2GB at the time of this writing). Once you've signed up for an account, there are two ways to upload your file and provide us with a public link that we can click to download it:

  • Web Interface. Use this method to upload and share your file through your web browser.
  • Finder. Use this method to upload and share your file through the Finder in OS X.

Choose the method that works best for you. The web interface does limit the size of file that you can upload through your browser. If your file is bigger than this limit (300MB at the time of this writing), then you'll receive a warning and will be asked to upload it via the Finder instead.

Web Interface Method

Follow the steps below to upload and share your file using your web browser:

  1. Launch your web browser (Safari, Firefox, etc.)
  2. Visit www.dropbox.com
  3. Log in to your account
  4. Click the Upload button at the top of the Dropbox web page:
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to select the file you want to upload
  6. Wait for the file to upload
  7. Select the file you just uploaded
  8. Click the "Copy public link" button and follow the onscreen steps:

  9. Switch to either the email where you're replying to your support ticket or the web browser page where you're replying to your support ticket
  10. Choose Edit > Paste to paste the public link into your reply

When we receive your reply, we'll click the public link to download your file.

Finder Method

Follow the steps below to upload and share your file using the Finder:

  1. Follow the steps on Dropbox.com's website to download and install their OS X software
  2. Once you've installed this software, switch to the Finder and you'll have a special Dropbox folder inside of your Home folder:

  3. Drag the file you wish to upload to this "Dropbox" folder or a folder inside of this "Dropbox" folder. The file will appear in the folder where you dropped it. The file will have a progress badge on it to indicate that it is being uploaded:

  4. Once the file is done uploading, a check mark badge will appear on the file:

  5. Control-click (right-click) on the file and choose Dropbox > Share Link:

  6. Switch to either the email where you're replying to your support ticket or the web browser page where you're replying to your support ticket
  7. Choose Edit > Paste to paste the public link into your reply

When we receive your reply, we'll click the public link to download your file.
